Following are a few other handy shortcuts that can accelerate your mapping:

CTRL-SHIFT-INSERT (& CTRL-SHIFT-DELETE) - these shortcuts allow you to create (or delete) a subtopic below the current one and automatically move all of the existing content below the new subtopic. I find this to be very useful if I decide that I need to place an entire section of a map into its own category. Before I knew about this shortcut I ended up dragging and dropping all of the topics.

CTRL-drag - Holding down the CTRL key while moving a topic is an easy way to make a copy of that topic. This method of copying a topic can be very handy when you want to keep the formatting of the original topic with as little fuss as possible.

Icon or Image-drag - If you select an icon or image contained in a topic you can drag it to another topic. This will save the time it takes to look for the image again. Additionally, if the icon is for task completion or a flag you can click on the icon and cycle through the other options without your focus leaving the map.

Printing MindManager Maps

Printing MindManager maps can pose a challenge. Typical paper (in the US) is 8 1/2" x 11" while the potential size of a map is much, much larger. When you print a map using the default settings the application keeps the overall shape of the map and shrinks it down so that it can fit on your specified size of paper. Large maps can become unreadable on normal size pieces of paper. What should you do?

If the map is large I recommend printing the main topic that will be discussed.

1. Highlight the main topic

2. Go to Detail - Show all Levels from the toolbar

3. Go to File - Print and under Range select "Primary selected Topic". Under Scaling I recommend selecting "One Page: Do not fit to page if map is smaller" (so that the section of the map will not print inexplicitly large).

In general the best option is to collaborate on the map inside the application and encourage your colleagues to purchase MindManager or at least download the free viewer.

Introduction

I’ve been with Mindjet just over 5
