1.0.57: Add search and research to project planning, brainstorming, and business processes within MindManager Pro 7.  This adds a task pane similar to the Research task pane in Microsoft Office 2003 so MindManager can pull in search results from desktop services such as Microsoft Windows Desktop Search and Google Desktop and online services like MSN, Yahoo, Google, Technorati, and Flickr.

CheckVersion 1.0.57 (10/10/2007)

  • Windows Desktop Search
  • CraigsList
  • Technorati

  • type a word in the Search for field
  • Select a service below the Search for field.
  • The results will appear in the pane below.
  • Drag a blue topic icon in the results to add that topic to your map.
  • Press [Map Results] to add all of the results to the current map or to create a new map of the results.
  • You can also start a search by selecting a topic with text in it to search, right clicking on it and selecting research...

Red Flag Known Issues

  • Windows Desktop Search 3.0 will not work with the Research Accelerator.  The Research Accelerator was built to use the API for Windows Desktop Search 2.6 and there is no published API for Windows Desktop Search yet.  Microsoft is planning on releasing an API in late February 2007 (see here).
  • Google is no longer issuing API keys for its search API (see here).  If you need a key, please contact us.

I am having trouble with this. It installs fine, but when I do a search and try and drag the results into the map I get an error: Line: 6 Char: 5 Error: Automation server can't create object Code: 0 URL: file://C:\Program Files\Mindjet\Research Accelerator\result.html Can anyone suggest how this can be fixed?

Has anyone been successful in using this? I keep getting the same errors as thamuhacha listed in his comments. Is there a work around?

This is a great tool, have used in MM6. Why haven't you fixed the bug preventing the dragging of found links to the map?

I would like to get a Google API key for the Research Accelerator. When I go into my Google account to do this it appears that it will only let me get it if I'm going to use it within my webpage, which I don't have. Can an AJAX API key be gotten from MindJetLabs? I "contacted" you through the "contact me" link over a week ago with this question but have yet to hear anything back.

Is anyone at MindJetLabs even reading these comments? There doesn't appear to be any activity on the modules for the past 5-6 months. Or is this section of the websit perhaps a ghost and the devleopers have long since packed up and left?

I tried to run this with pro 7 and installed an API key from google only to be told in MM7 that the response is "Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key: ". the Yahoo search simply responds with "bad results". please can this app be fixed as I'm sure it would be great if it worked correctly?

So far I've experienced both the problems described above. Is anyone from Mindjet reading these comments and acting on them, or are we wasting our time here?

Same problems here. I've also tried a Google Base API key, but that one didn't work either. Yahoo! also results in Bad Response. Under "known issues" is mentioned that WDS 3.0 wan't work with this extension. I thought the SDK was already released April last year. Is it possible to fix the integration now? It would be very nice and welcome to have Resource Accelarator working propperly. Best regards, Maik

I miss not having MindManager Research Accelerator in MM 8. Are there any plans on updating it. The Web services feature in MM8 is very limited compared to MM7. I'm dreading more and more my descision to upgrade:~(
