Linking to existing Outlook contact

    Linking to existing Outlook contact

    Hi Guys

    Is there any way to link directly (autorefreshing if possible) to an EXISTING Outlook contact (or task even). I see the option to add the "New Contact" map part, but I don't want to create a new contact.

     Any advice appreciated.

    I agree absolutely. It's very disappointing that you can't link to existing contacts. In practice, the restriction to new contacts means the feature is not any use to me. I've thought for a year or two how useful it would be to be able to link to contacts so was pleased to see it in release 6. It would be a very powerful feature for me as I use mindmaps a lot to map organisations and roles. I remain a great fan of mindjet.

    Mindjet, what do you say?

    Mike,

    Through the magic of software updating that we do here at the Mindjet Labs, I have just added this feature to your version of MindManager Wink.  Now, do the following:

    You can link to existing contacts, but you have to do it from Outlook.

    1. Open the map in MindManager that you want to put the contact and select a topic (that topic will be the parent topic of the contact). 
    2. Open Outlook.
    3. Select a contact.
    4. Press the MindManager button MindManager on the Outlook toolbar.

    The Outlook contact is now a topic in MindManager.

    Michael,

     Thanks for the reply - I was a bit puzzled until I read the small print. I'm very pleased as I've used the feature with some new contacts over the last week and it's useful.

    Of course, my next question is why aren't the user guides more clear on this point. (You know you can't win: the user pespective is reality. Anyway, I'm happy enough on this one.)
